2010-11 Call for Proposals:
ENERGY STORAGE

We are pleased to announce our 2nd annual call for proposals.  During the summer of 2011, I-SAEF will award at least three grants to support advanced energy storage research (including advanced batteries and charging for electric transportation and utility-scale applications) at participating Israeli universities.  Each award of up to $200,000 will be disbursed over a period of 2-3 years, depending on the project timeline.

I-SAEF will select projects that advance the scientific state-of-the-art and have significant commercial potential.  Grants will be awarded to projects that demonstrate a high likelihood of yielding technologies that can progress to commercialization.  We recommend that you consult with your university's technology transfer office to see if your research qualifies.

Nov 30, 2010:   Deadline to submit Pre-Proposals
Jan, 2011:        Approximately 6 finalists selected for Full Proposals
Mar, 2011:        Deadline to submit Full Proposals
May, 2011:        Advisory Board selects three to four grantees based on peer
                         scientific review
Jun 2011:         Grant recipients announced 
                         (Funds transferred upon Grantee signature of 
                         Research Grant Agreement)

How to Apply

Because we would like to see Israel's researchers busy achieving scientific breakthroughs, rather than writing proposals, we have tried to streamline the process and have relied heavily on existing application guidelines (such as the Israel Science Foundation and the Bi-National Science Foundation.) One significant distinction is the inclusion of a brief "Commerical Impact Statement" to ensure that proposals focus on technologies with large market potential and a measurable impact on the energy landscape.  

To get started please email [email protected] to request an access password, introducing yourself and your project briefly. Please note, a password may have already been provided to you by your Universities' office of research.

Once you have obtained a password, download the detailed Pre-Proposal Guidelines and Eligibility Criteria

When you have prepared all required documentation, submit your Pre-Proposal using our Online Submission Form.
