A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO HEAR ABOUT GAME-CHANGING
ALTERNATIVE ENERGY RESEARCH IN ISRAEL
Please join Lev and Galina Leytes, I-SAEF’s founders, to learn about a unique philanthropic initiative that empowers Israel to become a leading supplier of alternative energy technologies, funding merit-based, early-stage research at Israeli universities. There will be no solicitation. This invitation is personal and non-transferable. For more information about I-SAEF or this presentation, please visit www.i-saef.org.

"I-SAEF SUPPORT IS CRITICAL FOR RESEARCH IN ISRAEL...THE SUBJECT IS NOT ONLY
IMPORTANT FOR ISRAEL, BUT FOR THE BENEFIT OF ALL PEOPLE."
- ROGER KORNBERG, NOBEL LAUREATE IN CHEMISTRY
ABOUT THE ISRAEL STRATEGIC ALTERNATIVE ENERGY FOUNDATION (I-SAEF):
I-SAEF, a supporting foundation of the San Francisco Jewish Community Federation, is a U.S. 501(c)(3) non-profit which funds game-changing alternative energy research at Israeli universities. Launched in 2009, I-SAEF funds are already supporting breakthrough research such as converting the pollutant CO2 into synthetic fuel.
I-SAEF’s goal is to fund a minimum of 100 grants of $200,000 each over a 10-year period. Grants are awarded after a rigorous screening process performed by I-SAEF’s Scientific and Commercial Advisors, including (among others) Nobel Laureates Professor Alan Heeger, Professor Paul Berg and Professor Roger Kornberg, and commercialization expert Jack Levy, General Partner of Israel Cleantech Ventures.
In 2010 I-SAEF focused its funding on breakthrough solar energy research projects. In 2011 the focus was on batteries for electric cars and utility-scale energy storage. In 2012, grants targeted synthetic fuels from renewable sources (including biofuels). The pent up demand for funding among researchers working in solar energy and energy storage is substantial, so in 2013 I-SAEF is again making grants to research in these areas. Your help is needed to achieve this goal. www.i-saef.org.
ABOUT I-SAEF's FOUNDERS
Galina and Lev Leytes are co-founders of the Israel Strategic Alternative Energy Foundation (I-SAEF, pronounced "I-Safe"). They were co-founders of LJL BioSystems, Inc, a NASDAQ hi-tech company, of which Lev was CEO and Galina was Executive VP. Prior to LJL, they held senior technical and management positions in Silicon Valley.
Lev and Galina have served as directors on boards of both private and public companies, and in the non-profit sector. They have graduate degrees in engineering and have completed the Advanced Management Program at Stanford University. Contact Galina Leytes during the JFN Conference at 650-465-7279, or galina@i-saef.org.
